V Setmana Valenciana / Vuelta Comunitat Valenciana Féminas 2021

From May 06 to 09, it will take place the five edition of Setmana Valenciana - Vuelta Comunitat Valenciana Féminas, test 2.1 organized by Club Ciclista Escapada in the Valencian Community (Comunitat Valenciana) and included in the European calendar of the International Cycling Union (ICU). A total of 25 teams, 8 of them from Spain and 17 international ones, adding up 175 cyclists from a variety of European countries.

Itinerary

The Setmana Ciclista Valenciana - Vuelta Comunidad Valenciana Féminas 2020 will consist of four stages in line. Llike the previous editions, this one will be present once again in the three provinces of the Valencian Community: Castelló, València and Alicante.

Stage 1

Barxeta - Gandia
DATE: 06/05/2021 | DISTANCE: 125

The first stage of Setmana Valenciana will begin the Tuesday 6th of May at 13:30  from Jaume I avenue in Barxeta. Once the start is given, the cyclists will face the Alto de Barxeta headint to Simat. The first KMs will take the riders to the region of La Ribera Alta throughout the cities of Barraca d’Aigües Vives, Alzira, Benimuslem, Alberic, Pobla Llarga, Sant Joanet, Manuel and l’Ènova. From Torre de Lloris, being already at the Costera, the bunch will make its appearance in Xàtiva, from which they will face the Alto de Serragrosa (3rd category mountain climb).

A quick descent will take  the cyclist till the region of la Vall d’Albaida. After passing the towns of Bellús, Benigànim and Quatretonda, the race will enter again in the Coster this time through Lloc Nou d'en Fenollet and Barxeta, where the intermediate sprint will happen before coming back to the Alto the Barxeta and heading straight to Simat. The last difficulty of the day will be the Alto de Barx içof 3rd category , which summit  will be place just 13km close to the finish line. Since the moment the will arrive to the top of Barx, the riders will need to face a very fast descent through Drova till Gandia, the capital of La Safor, where is placed the finish Line, at República Argentina Avenue. After 125 km, we will know who is the first race leader.

Stage 2

Castelló - Vila-Real
DATE: 07/05/2021 | DISTANCE: 130

The second stage will move to the province of Castellón. With a total of 130 km it will be the longest of this edition. It will start on Friday, at one thirty in the afternoon, from Columbretes street in the capital of La Plana. The cyclists will pass through Borriol, La Pobla de Tornesa and Vall d'Alba, in the Plana Alta, before competing in the special sprint of La Barona.

The towns of Useras, Costur, La Foia, Figueroles and Lucena del Cid, all of them in the Alcalatén region, will see the slides pass in the direction of the two mountainous difficulties of the day, which will be linked: the Alto de Les Coronetes, first class, and the Alto del Salt del Cavall, second. From this last climb to the finish line there will still be 58 kilometers to go. Before finishing at the arrival of the Camí de l’Ermita de Vila-Real, the cyclists will cross the Alt Millars through Argelita, Vallat and Fanzara, before reaching Ribesalbes, already in Plana Baixa. The second stage will end next to the Estadio de la Cerámica, where they have already won in other cycling editions of the stature of Marta Bastianelli, Lotta Lepista or Leah Thomas.

Stage 3

Sagunt - València
DATE: 08/05/2021 | DISTANCE: 108

Already on Saturday, the third stage will take the cyclists to the province of Valencia, although the first section of the route will also enter Castellón. It will start at one from Avenida Pianista Mario Monreal de Sagunto, where the survivors of the race will return once the first 50 kilometers have been covered to compete in a special first sprint. In those first kilometers of the stage the race will cross Almenara, La Llosa, Xilxes -in the Plana Baixa region- before also doing it in the Camp de Morvedre through Alfara de la Baronía, Algimia de Alfara, Torres Torres, Estivella and Gilet .

Sagunto will see the cyclists pass again at kilometer 80, with a second special sprint once the race will have passed through Cuartell and again through Estivella and Gilet.

The last 27 kilometers of the stage will take the sliders towards Valencia through Puçol and El Puig, in l'Horta Nord. The end, after 108 kilometers, will be located on the Paseo de la Alameda.

Stage 4

Finestrat - Alacant
DATE: 09/05/2021 | DISTANCE: 114

The fourth and last stage of this edition of Setmana Valenciana will take place in the province of Alicante. The riders will complete a route of 114km between Finestrat and Alicante. The start will happen at 12 o'clock in the morning from La cala de Finestrat, next to the Mediterraneam sea. The first kilometers will follow through Finestrat and Sella, at the Marina Baixa, before facing the alto de Tudons, first category mountain climb.

After a fast descent heading to Penàguila, the Alto de Benifallim will follow, a 2nd category mountain climb. There will be almost no rest for the cyclists since the intermediate sprint at Torremanzanas, will be followed also by the last climb of this edition, the Alto del Collao, of 3rd category.

The last part of the race will be more easy. The race will pass through the villages of Relleu, Aigües de Bussot, Bussot and Sant Joan d'Alacant. At the Conde Vallelano avenue of Alicante we will finally meet the name of the winner of the 5th Setmana Valenciana-Vuelta Comunitat Valenciana Féminas.
